Whatever you and your family decide, have lots of fun. Yet before you venture out and about create a homemade breakfast for the family with my Apple Brown Sugar Bacon. Trust me, this bacon will get the engine running.
Apple Brown Sugar Bacon
This recipe is so simple to make and all you need is three ingredients. Grab your favorite thick sliced bacon, light brown sugar, and apple pie spice. Yes, I said apple pie spice. If you’re not familiar, look for this spice blend in the baking aisle in your local market. A blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves are the base, lending a warm flavor profile perfect apple pie and other baked goods. So, I said why not add some flavor to breakfast bacon.
Apple Brown Sugar Bacon
Start by buying good quality smoked bacon and laying slices on a foil-lined, rimmed baking sheet. Combine sugar and pie spice. dredge or sprinkle sugar mixture over bacon on both sides. Bake until brown and crispy as desired but be careful not to burn as this can happen quickly at the end of cooking. Luscious savory and sweet flavor to be had.
Apple Brown Sugar Bacon
Serve with any of your favorite breakfast foods like french toast, pancakes, eggs, omelets, toast or whatever you desire in the morning. Have some fun using apple pie spice because it is very versatile like seasoning winter squash like butternut, acorn, or delicata. No matter, enjoy this bacon recipe and watch faces light up as breakfast doesn’t get any better.
Apple Brown Sugar Bacon
1-pound thick sliced bacon
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 t. apple pie spice
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Cover a large rimmed baking sheet (jelly-roll) with foil.
Lay bacon slices in a single layer on baking sheet.
In a small bowl combine, brown sugar and apple pie spice.
Coat bacon on both sides with sugar mixture.
Bake for 20 to 22 minutes depending on thickness. Watch cooking time the last few minutes to ensure bacon is not burning.
Drain on paper towel and serve.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
