Smoothies are a healthy way to get important vitamins and minerals. These smooth, creamy drinks can be a meal replacement allowing you to help control blood sugar and ensuring you do not go long periods between meals. Smoothies keep the body from going into starvation mode which can cause you to binge eat. In addition, adding nuts and seeds for protein help you to feel full longer. They do the body good. Drinks like my Banana Chia Smoothies are a perfect way to get servings of fruit and vegetables. Fiber and protein are essential to aid in weight loss and/or maintaining your weight.
Banana Chia Smoothie
Smoothies taste fantastic as you can add whatever you like. I happen to like adding bananas to my smoothies for thickness and is my replacement for sugar. Greek yogurt is most often used for calorie sake and for my intake of dairy for Vitamin D and calcium. Chia seeds are used for fiber and tend to make drinks and puddings thicker when they sit. In this particular smoothie I also use honey for sweetness. Freezing the bananas before blending act as a thickener and that icy consistency. Definitely yummy for the tummy in the morning. Feel free to add vanilla protein powder for added benefits like taste and a burst of energy.
If you’ve got 20 minutes, a Banana Chia Smoothie is a must try in the morning. Don’t forget to experiment with other fruits and vegetables, creating your own concoction. Share your favorite smoothie recipe…Have a great start to your day.
