“Blood Orange Cocktail”

If you have never tasted one of the most delectable fruits, you’re missing the boat. Blood Oranges have the most flavorful juice and it’s hard to describe their flavor profile. I’d say sweet but tart yet not as tart as regular orange juice with a floral note but not in the way of flowers. One of my favorite ways to use blood oranges is to use the juice in cocktails like a Blood Orange Cocktail and serve at your Super Bowl party.

Be careful quenching your thirst with this drink because you can easily forget this cocktail has vodka. It drinks very smoothly because it tastes so good. Make it into a virgin cocktail for kids by omitting the alcohol. This is the season for blood oranges so take advantage of them while supplies last at least until March and if we’re lucky until May. The juice is pink to red depending on variety available. I know not all supermarkets have blood oranges available so you may have to do some leg work but oh so worth the hunt.

Blood Orange Cocktail

Blood orange juice blends well with vodka as well as whiskey so create your own cocktails. So travel on down to your local market where I’m hoping you will find the quintessential blood orange and its flavorful juice. You’ll have some really happy guests at your Super Bowl party. Spread your wings in the kitchen and find other uses like in salads and marinades.
