“Chipotle Sloppy Joes”

Do you a favorite recipe from your childhood? When I was a kid my Mom always made my sister and I our favorite foods. She was a stay at home Mom until we were teenagers so coming home after school there was usually something we loved. One of those favorites was Sloppy Joes. Mom never used Manwich or those little packages as a starter. Mom cooked from scratch, most of time with no recipe. So I’ve spiced up my Chipotle Sloppy Joes with a bit of Chipotle chili powder. Not enough to make them hot or too spicy but to add a smoky flavor underneath the tangy, sweet flavor. If you’d like them more spicy add a little cayenne pepper.

Chipotle Sloppy Joes are sure to be a fan favorite with everyone in your family including the kids in your household. I’m a big kid at heart and sometimes you want simple. Sometimes simple and easy is the best especially on a busy weeknight or weekend. You can have Chipotle Sloppy Joes for lunch, brunch or dinner. When I broke out this recipe I had not made them in a while. I’d had a very busy day and needed quick. My husband was like a little kid as he could hardly contain himself.

A Kid Favorite – Chipotle Sloppy Joes

Made with lean ground beef, onion, celery, tomato soup, ketchup, and garlic powder. The addition of vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar give this recipe a tangy, sweet and savory blend of flavors. I don’t use green pepper but you can add some if you like and use or leave out the celery. Kids may not like the crunch or texture. I’m not a big celery person either but I love it in my Chipotle Sloppy Joes.

You can have dinner on the table in about 45 minutes. Use your favorite buns, toasted or untoasted. Serve with french fries or your favorite potato chips. That’s our favorite way. So be a kid one day soon and treat your family to a fun meal with Chipotle Sloppy Joes. Share your favorite childhood meal or if you make this recipe.
