One holiday over yet in another month we will be celebrating all Mom’s in the month of May. Mother’s Day is a day we celebrate the love of mothers everywhere. My Mom passed away almost ten years ago and not a day goes by when she is not with me. I also remember what a big fuss we made on “her day”. I was old enough to prepare meals so as a family we celebrated at home instead of going to crowded restaurants and all that waiting in line. That celebration included a fabulous dessert which brings me to my Cookbook of the Month – April 2018 recommendation.
I would cook whatever she wanted and always came up with a decadent dessert. Mom was not a big dessert eater as that was left for my Dad and sister. But she would make an exception and relax. So if you’re looking for simple, decadent desserts to serve on Mother’s Day, checkout my Cookbook of the Month – April 2018. Why not start thinking about what celebrating Mother’s Day will be for your family this year.
Cookbook of the Month – April 2018
The cookbook I recommend is Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey by Jill O’Connor. Published in 2007, this cookbook pages are full of recipes containing everything we love about dessert. The book contains more than 75 recipes to please anyone who loves anything sticky, chewy, messy, and gooey in nature when it comes to sweets. I love this cookbook because of its array of cakes, puddings, cheesecake, hot chocolate, pies, and even caramel corn. This is a fun and inventive cookbook filled with buttery favorites and new spins. Included in my Cookbook of the Month – April 2018, Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey, Jill has given every reader and home cook techniques and tools for preparing her recipes. Jill talks “sweet tips” on using phyllo dough, toasting nuts, using the right cocoa, and making the most decadent ganache. I promise you this cookbook is filled with irresistible treats for every palate. Look at this book as one filled with what makes dessert so special for any occasion.
Jill explains what basic equipment, tools and utensils to have on hand. Nothing complicated, just simple and basic. Another side note is all the recipes included serve at least four to twelve people.
