January brings you a favorite cookbook based on truly exceptional home cooks and their fabulous recipes. Cookbook of the Month – January 2017 is The Food52 Cookbook by Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs and the Food52 Community. Published in 2011, this cookbook is the first of several containing 140 winning recipes.
Amanda Hesser is an accomplished cookbook author who saw the need to recognize talented home cooks. By giving them a place to show off their culinary talents and skills, to be inspired by cooks on all levels and to be part of a supportive community was Amanda’s vision. This is what first drew me to this cookbook. Realizing home cooks are both inventive, yet practical, Amanda along with her friend Merrill set out to showcase great recipes by hosting contests.

Amanda and Merrill think and agree cooking is especially important now because one, families who eat together the kids do better in school and are healthier. My Mom always cooked meals for her family and we most often ate together. Amanda and Merrill believe cooking promotes sustainability, sets a lifelong example of good eating and home is an important place in everyone’s life, not to mention remembering you and how happy people are around you.

Food52 also has a website (www.food52.com). On the website you will find online features, recipes, a shop, a blog, info on contests, and a hotline to answer your burning questions. The online store is one of my favorite places to see what’s new and different. Get ready to be amazed…
Lastly, I highly recommend visiting your local or online bookstore to view The Food52 Cookbook and other Food52 publications. I have no doubt this cookbook will make its way into your cookbook library.
