Hey Y’all! Summertime grilling is going strong and everyone needs fresh new ideas on old favorites. I never tire of grilling and need no excuses to get started. From meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables, there’s just something about cooking out doors. My Cookbook of the Month – June 2020 recommendation is by Weber. New American Barbecue provides recipes with a modern spin on the classics. This cookbook comes in handy when needing those new ideas to spruce up grilled foods.

At times I need new inspiration on the same ole, same ole. Don’t we all because cooking something the same old way can be a drag and boring. Cooking today allows for major experimentation with both old and new ingredients. What about all those ingredients you’ve read about and are now available in your local market. I find the selections so exciting. Just one ingredient can change a recipe.

This cookbook provides a look at the history of barbecue and what’s new along with mouth-watering recipes. Barbecue and grilling are two different types of cooking and varies differently by region. Barbecue is slow cooked over wood and grilling is quick cooking. Once only found in the rural South dating back to the 1500’s, barbecue is now at every turn. Fire, wood and charcoal are the unifying elements of barbecue.

Now, let’s cook! I think we should start with a Charred Wedge Salad (page 48) and  Smoked Chicken Nachos (page 32). A must try is Pork Shoulder with Sweet Carolina Mustard Sauce (page 62), Three Cheese Pizzas (page 116), Steak Sandwiches on Texas Toast (page 140), and Rosemary-Lemon Brick Chicken (page 198). last but not least, Grilled Salmon BLT’s (page 218), Shrimp Cobb Salad (page 230), and Stuffed Potatoes (page 244). i could go on and on yet you get my drift.
