Cookbook of the Month – May 2020

Where did this month go already? So I ask, What’s not to love about meatballs? Absolutely nothing…say it again, absolutely nothing. My Cookbook of the Month – May 2020 recommendation is the Meatball Cookbook Bible. Who can resist the chance to try 500 variations of one of the world’s most loved foods. Whether cooked in sauce, served by themselves, or served with dipping sauces, each recipe is insanely enticing and we still need easy.

There Is A Meatball For Everyone

This cookbook begins with the anatomy of a meatball. Each ingredient has a purpose like producing flavor and the best texture. The primary ingredient is first and foremost. Next are the flavor boosters which includes spices, herbs, cheeses, vegetables, sauces and condiments. Those eaten stand alone will have more ingredients than those cooked in sauces. salt and pepper may be used at minimum because of other ingredients added which may already be seasoned. Ingredients that enhance texture are next such as eggs although some vegetables can be used. Last but not least is the moisture factor such as torn bread, crackers or oatmeal to name a few. These ingredients can add flavor as well.

Explore The Possibilities

The Meatball cookbook Bible contains recipes for sauces, main course soups, international beef meatballs, meatballs with pork, sausage, ham, lamb, and veal. You’ll also find meatballs containing more than one meat, chicken, turkey, fish and seafood. Lastly are those made with vegetables, legumes, herbs and grains. Did I mention the cookbook has dessert covered, too? It’s got you covered.

From Fun Food To Dinner Food

Some of my favorite recipes are the Tartar sauce (page 44), Italian Escarole and Meatball Soup (page 78), Beef Meatball Stroganoff (page 116), Veal Meatballs Parmigiana (page 210), Dill and Mustard Salmon Balls (page 380), Falafel (page 398), Cheese-Spinach Balls (page 430), Pesto-Pine Nut Cheese Balls (page 434), Caramel Popcorn Balls (page 454), Italian Sweet Ricotta Fritters (page 468), and Fried Ice Cream Balls (page 472). These are only a few and doesn’t even scratch the surface.

The back of the book also contains conversion charts which I’ve found can come in quite handy. This is a great book when looking for something different for lunch and dinner. Meatballs are a fun food no matter which way you serve them up. There is definitely something for everyone. I think this is a fun cookbook and perfect when you get the urge to experiment. Take a look and see what you think
