May is a month of celebrations. Realizing this, the decision for my Cookbook of the Month – May 2022 recommendation is a tried and true cookbook I use quite often. With Mother’s Day around the corner, breakfast and brunch to to mind for Mom’s everywhere.
The cookbook recommendation is Williams-Sonoma: Breakfast Comforts by Rick Rodgers. Cookbook of the Month – May 2022
Originally published in 2011 then updated with a different cover in 2013, it’s still a diamond n the rough. Easy to follow recipes and easy to find ingredients makes this cookbook a joy to cook from. Whether cooking for yourself or a group, the recipes are easy to adjust according to how many people are being served. That’s a “YASSS” in my book.
What’s so special about this cookbook recommendation?
Want to know why I think this cookbook is so special and why I recommend it for any home cook? I grew up in a breakfast family. As kids, Mom made sure we never left the house without eating plus my Dad expected breakfast before work. Does this sound like the house you grew up in?
My late husband and my sister love breakfast foods. Doesn’t matter whether it’s morning, noon or night. This cookbook holds so many memories and most of all, the recipes are flipping delicious. True breakfast comfort amped up is what I say and so will you.
Nothing is better than homemade breakfast food and when you can share food with family and friends, what gets any better than that. Fluffy pancakes everybody loves, creamy scrambled eggs, and golden brown French toast or even a loaded omelet can be on your menu. Yet you’ll find the recipes add that special touch and flavor to satisfy any pallet.
Fresh breakfast ideas revisited
So, what are these fabulous recipes, you ask? Let’s start by talking about a couple special features in this cookbook.
First, the author has compiled breakfast recipes of18 popular breakfast restaurants from around the United States. One such restaurant, Hot Chocolate is right here in Chicago, owned and operated by renowned pastry chef, Mindy Segal. As luck would have it the 15 year old restaurant and bakery is closed and moving to a new location very soon. The new bakery is called Mindy’s Bakery and people can’t wait for the reopening.
This cookbook leaves your mouth watering to taste every recipe while reading and flipping through the pages. If you and your family love breakfast in any form, this cookbook is for you. You will buy a book that will get plenty of use and not gather dust.
From homemade biscuits to monkey bread, and classic eggs benedict with unexpected twists. Try oven baked pancakes to panini’s, omelets to waffles, and shrimp & grits. What’s not to love, right?
