Cookbook of the Month – November 2015
“Joy of Cooking” by Irma S. Rombauer is my Cookbook of the Month – November 2015. This cookbook was the first cookbook I received as a gift from my parents. I still have my original copy along with the 75th Anniversary Edition pictured above. “Joy of Cooking” makes a great gift for someone who wants a basic how-to cookbook.
Described as “the most authoritative cookbook in America” relied upon by millions, this cookbook contains recipes with thought to freshness, convenience and healthy eating. This cookbook contains thorough descriptions of ingredients from everyday finds at your local supermarket to more new and exotic ingredients used in cooking today.
This cookbook also contains a section devoted to essential cooking basics at a glance along with delicious recipes. Want to know about low-fat substitutions? What basic equipment do you need for your kitchen?
Want to know how to wash and store salad greens, what pasta sauce to use with different pastas? Need to bake a cake for someone’s birthday? Want to know about different varieties of grains and beans, look no further than “Joy of Cooking.”
When I first received this cookbook, it was my bible. “Joy of Cooking” is an invaluable addition in any cookbook collection. As a gift to yourself or someone else, “Joy of Cooking” will become a valuable addition to your cookbook collection.
