How much do you love breakfast or brunch? Do you love breakfast for dinner? So, wouldn’t you love to enjoy recipes from your favorite morning cafe? Breakfast and brunch are two of my favorite meal times. I also know I can put my husband and sister on that list as they are both crazy for omelets. Well have I got a treat for you and believe me what a treat this was for me. While visiting Dayton, Ohio earlier in the year to see family we ate at my favorite breakfast cafe, First Watch. When we were checking out, I got the biggest surprise, a cookbook. I must share and make this cookbook my Cookbook of the Month – September 2019 recommendation.

Nothing is like being in your hometown and eating at your favorite restaurants. First Watch is a true favorite and the food is fantastic. Always fresh, locally sourced, and some recipes are based on seasonal availability. You can taste the freshness in each dish as prepared. That’s why they say, “Yeah, It’s Fresh”.
The decor is industrial and rustic in nature which totally fits the theme of the cafe, comfortable and homey. Open 7 days a week from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm serving breakfast, brunch and lunch. Trust me, many times I have wished the restaurant had longer hours because of breakfast craving.

So, I bet you’re wondering what kind of recipes are in the cookbook and served at First Watch. They prepare something for everyone from ‘health conscious’ to ‘the heck with carbs and calories’ menu items. Whatever your taste, just come hungry, I say. My favorites include Million Dollar Bacon (page 23), First Watch Granola (page 33) which you can buy in house, BLT Benedict (page 53), Multigrain Pancake Batter (page 79), Chicken Salad Melt (page 105), Banh Mi Breakfast Bowl (page 113), Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl (page 118), Elote Mexican Street Corn Hash (page 132), and their own specialty coffee to purchase in house. The First Watch menu has many other items on the menu you’ll love.

People enjoy a more sophisticated palate today so restaurants feed that need to keeps guests coming back. I’m a firm believer without good food and good service you’re out of business in no time. The culinary team travels frequently across the country to see what the local food scene is about and find inspiration for new recipes. Eating at First watch and cooking from the cookbook is a gift to yourself and your family. Go ahead and order yourself a copy because I said so and you’ll thank me later. Bon Appetit!
