“Easy Maple Bourbon Baked Beans”

Does anyone else think this is the rainiest Spring on record? All the rain is keeping me from doing what I love and that is grilling. You can’t very well fire up the grill when torrential rain comes so why not improvise I say. My Easy Maple Bourbon Baked Beans have got to be one of the easiest sides for burgers, hot dogs, or barbecued chicken.

That said, burgers, hot dogs, and barbecued chicken can be cooked inside. Simply fry, broil or bake your burgers, boil your hot dogs, and bake chicken, pouring your favorite sauce on last. Checkout my recipe for Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken. So, why not jazz up your favorite can of baked beans. Making baked beans from scratch are wonderfully delicious but during the week quick and easy always works in my book. In addition, straight from the can is never the best taste.

So, I spruced up these beans on a day I was able to grill burgers before the rain came yet I have utilized this recipe so many times. I’m always going through my pantry trying to use stuff I bought weeks ago. You buy things and then change your mind. Sometimes I’m amazed how I think of something in the morning and by the time I get around to lunch I’m thinking of something else. Funny how that happens, right?

Anyway, I added maple syrup for subtle sweetness instead of brown sugar, bourbon for a slight smokey taste, and cayenne for a bit of heat. Maple and bourbon just work together and I love the combination. Also, spicy brown mustard was added instead of dry mustard. On top of all ingredients added is the quintessential bacon.

Give this easy recipe a try and  think they taste even better later as leftovers. Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment on how you created your own recipe. Have a great week everybody!
