Yahoooooo! It’s the weekend and a beautiful Saturday night. I am about to grill my husband I dinner but first I needed a cocktail. I must share this recipe. Dreaming up new flavors for cocktails is so much fun. Sometimes combinations come to me because of something we had while out to dinner, from TV, or the sheer mention of an ingredient. I carry around a notepad to jot down ideas as they come to me. That’s what happened when I created my Honey Ginger Kentucky Mule. Bold, refreshing and lip-smacking good.
While shopping at World Market for wine, I ventured to the back wall in my store where mixers and other you never know what you’ll find kind of area, a bottle of honey ginger syrup popped up at me. Hmmm…I thought to myself. The first time I had used this syrup was last summer in a blended iced tea. I kept thinking about what other drinks could be made with this syrup. Not paying any attention to the back of the bottle, I finely read the small print. On the back is a recipe for a cocktail, a Moscow mule no doubt.

I keep Elijah Craig Bourbon Whiskey and limes of course. But tonight I remembered I had this ginger syrup. And in case you don’t know the difference between a Moscow mule and a Kentucky mule is the use of vodka in a Moscow mule and Bourbon Whiskey in a Kentucky mule. Let me tell you this cocktail will cure what ails you and drinks way to easy, so watch out. Listen to me as I’m about to fire up my grill. Ha…ha…ha…! A bite of ginger and a smooth sweetness of honey.
Enjoy your holiday weekend. If you’re invited somewhere or you’re doing the entertaining, head to the liquor store to buy whiskey, World Market for the syrup (unfortunately not in all stores) and the produce market for limes. If you have trouble finding the syrup, click here to find out where to buy Barsmith product and learn more about the company. Everyone should have a Honey Ginger Kentucky Mule in their hand one day soon. The search is worth the wait. You could even make mock-tails for kids. Just leave out the whiskey and add more ginger beer in its place. Happy 4th!!!
