“Juicy Cheesy Onion Burgers”

Nothing satisfies like a darn good burger. No matter the occasion whether a cookout, weeknight meal, or a weekend tailgate, a burger always works. My Juicy Cheesy Onion Burgers totally fit the bill. I’m a huge fan of burgers. Not just any burger, I want a good thick burger. I want a burger with big beef flavor and juiciness. A good burger doesn’t have to have a bunch of stuff covering up the beef. My burgers have grated onion and cheddar cheese mixed in. In addition, an egg white is added to produce the juiciness we all know and love. If you’ve never added egg white, give it a try because the addition is amazing.

But the first time I made these babies, I got rave after rave review. I mentioned how a good burger doesn’t need all the fixins to make them outstanding. it’s all about the meat they are made of. First, use 80/20 ground beef. Good patties need the fat. That’s all there is to it. No fat, no taste, period so buy good quality beef. It’s a must.

Next, grated onion provides an out of this word onion flavor throughout the whole burger. Add a slice if you like but you won’t need one. Then, add in shredded cheddar cheese. OMG!!! Your burger will go from 0 – 60 at first bite. Brush the burgers with melted butter before adding a slice of American cheese. Now, place these Juicy Cheesy Onion Burgers on toasted Brioche buns. Just say, Amen, sister! Have a napkin handy because everyone will need one. Watch the juice just flow with every bite. Oh so good, I’m telling you. This burger needs nothing else. Serve with your favorite sides from fries to onion rings, chips to grilled vegetables.

Maybe you have a favorite burger or don’t pay much attention to detail when making a burger. Restaurants grind their own meats most often. But even I know when I want a burger, most of us are not grinding our own meat. So, I’ve created something I think all burger lovers will enjoy. Not a fussy recipe yet can be made ahead of time. I actually suggest making them in advance. This recipe will have you throwing a burger party one weekend soon. If you’re unable to grill due to weather, cook the burgers stove-top. Just as juicy and delicious, I promise. Get ready to fall in love with some darn good, drippy, oniony, cheesy absurd deliciousness. #chowdownlowdown or leave me a comment if you make this recipe or have a favorite burger of your own.

Juicy Cheesy Onion Burgers

1 ½-pounds 80/20 ground beef

1 egg white

1/2 cup grated or finely minced yellow onion

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 t. Lawry’s seasoned salt

1 t. ground black pepper

2 T. Worcestershire sauce

2 T. melted unsalted butter

6 slices American cheese

6 Brioche buns, split

In a large mixing bowl, add beef, egg white, onion, cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix all ingredients with your hands until just combined. Do not over mix.

Form six burger patties, place on a plate or platter. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. This allows seasonings to meld for greater flavor, however, burgers can be cooked right away if you like.

Heat grill according to manufacturers directions and maintain 400 degrees. Use vegetable oil on grill grates to keep burgers from sticking.

Place burgers on grill and cook about 3-4 minutes per side as desired. Brush burgers with melted butter and place one slice of American cheese on top of burgers.

While cheese is melting, place split buns on grill to toast. Remove and brush toasted side of bun with remaining butter.

Place burgers on bottom bun and top with your favorite toppings or enjoy plain.

Note: Burgers can be cooked indoors in a skillet as desired. Toast buns under the broiler.
