Low Carb Lifestyle
Welcome to Low Carb Lifestyle…the place where you will find absolutely delicious, easy recipes for those of you watching your carbohydrate intake like myself. Years ago, low carb diets were all the rage. Low carb eating is still popular but not for the same reasons as before. Low Carb eating is about consuming the same amount of carbohydrates at breakfast, lunch and dinner with a snack between each meal if you’d like. Controlling your carb intake throughout the day keeps your blood sugar levels consistent; no peaks and valleys so to speak. Those peaks and valleys cause you to feel sluggish and tired. A diet low in carbs along with exercise can also assist in weight loss. Carbs are the body’s main source of fuel and energy. Living a low carb lifestyle decreases insulin levels, enabling the body’s ability to burn stored fat.
Low Carb Lifestyle
I was diagnosed 4 years ago with diabetes. The first thing I thought was, “Oh no!” I won’t be able to enjoy all the foods I love. I love to cook and bake cookies and cakes. SO NOT TRUE! A Low Carb Lifestyle means reducing the amounts of processed foods in our daily diets like white bread, pasta, sweets, sweetened sodas and drinks, some fruits, vegetables, grains and beans. It doesn’t mean you cannot ever have the occasional piece of cake, slice of pie or a cookie. Eating low carb means introducing natural occurring carbs like in fruits and vegetables, protein such as lean meats, fish, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds daily. Remember cutting too many carbs can also lead to the feeling of no energy and increased hunger.
Cutting calories and carbohydrates doesn’t keep you from enjoying great food, delicious food. Everything in moderation. As you all know by now, I love to cook and I want all my recipes to taste fabulous. I believe in creating a little something for everyone; having variety to choose from. I understand the need to have healthier options so I aim to please. Checkout Chowdown Lowdown’s Low Carb Lifestyle where you’ll find deliciousness every week.
