Several weeks ago, I brought you a White Chocolate Brownie recipe that was and is to die for. Today I bring you my Matcha White Chocolate Brownies. It’s the same wonderful recipe but with Matcha. One day while I was experimenting with adding Matcha (green tea powder) to several recipes, I decided to see what would happen when added to this brownie recipe. Low and behold, another level of deliciousness was created and their name is Matcha White Chocolate Brownies. Can you tell I’m really excited about these delectable little treats? Believe me, you’ll be amazed and won’t be able to stop at one.

If you’ve never used Matcha green tea powder, let me give you a little information. First, Matcha has the Unami flavor or better known as the fifth taste. Matcha can vary in taste depending on quality. Non-organic brands can have a grass-like taste while organic quality brands can be sweeter. Second, always purchase the best quality whether you’re drinking the tea for its health benefits or using in smoothies, lattes or baked goods like Matcha White Chocolate Brownies. I’ve tried several and you can tell the difference between good and bad.

Third, the consistency of the powder can also vary. Some may be ground finer than others so purchase the most finely ground powder available. This way it will totally dissolve if you’re making tea and won’t interfere with your recipes. I only use one tablespoon of powder in my recipe and it’s perfect. The only difference in the recipe is taste but everything else is the same I’m happy to announce. I brought a batch of these brownies to work and they were a hit right away. Matcha maybe an acquired taste but it is a different and unique taste. Give Matcha a try and start by making my Matcha White Chocolate Brownies this weekend. They’re incredibly moist, decadent, and delicious. Happy Baking!!!
Matcha White Chocolate Brownies
Matcha White Chocolate Brownies
1 cup Ghirardelli white chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 large egg, room temperature
One – 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1 T. vanilla extract
1 t. kosher salt
1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 T. Matcha Green Tea powder
Confectioners’ sugar, for sprinkling on top
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8x8x2 square baking pan with parchment paper; set aside.
In a medium-size microwave safe bowl, melt butter and white chocolate chips, starting at 30 seconds in microwave. Stir and if not completely melted, place bowl back in microwave for an additional 10 – 15 seconds.
Add in vanilla extract, sweetened condensed milk, egg and salt; stir to combine. Fold in flour and Matcha until just combined. Do not over mix.
Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake for 30 minutes and slightly browned. Brownies will puff up in the middle and sink slightly once removed from oven heat. Remove brownies from oven and sprinkle top with confectioners’ sugar.
Allow brownies to cool in pan for 10 minutes. Finally remove brownies from pan to wire rack, let brownies cool completely before cutting and serving.
