Say Good Morning with Orange Challah Bread French Toast. Made with everyone’s favorite egg-based bread that stands up to almost anything. Used fresh or day old, Challah is what I call the perfect bread for making french toast because it is slightly sweet yet a firm bread. It will soak up liquids without falling apart and is easily infused with many flavors of your choice. French toast is one of my favorite breakfast foods and I have no doubt this will become a fast favorite.

Start by mixing eggs, whole milk, orange zest, orange extract, vanilla extract, honey, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Slice Challah bread into thick slices at least 1/2-inch thick to 3/4-inch. The thicker the slices, the longer the bread can soak in egg mixture without falling apart and imparting more flavor before cooking. After about five minutes of soaking in egg mixture, heat both oil and butter in a large skillet. Once heated, fry french toast about 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown. The butter and oil combination imparts both browning without burning but keep heat at medium. Using all butter will definitely burn.

Orange Challah Bread French Toast is great when serving a large crowd. Place on baking sheet in warm oven until ready to serve. Tastes great heated in the toaster the next day if there are any leftovers. I doubt you will have any leftovers because that orange infusion is irresistible.
