When the weather turns chilly, I often crave my favorite recipes of summer. Believe it or not, many of your recipes can be made throughout the winter months. The only thing which changes is the cooking method, therefore, the recipe itself stays the same. That’s what I was thinking when my husband had the taste for barbecue chicken and my Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken was born. I have made this recipe for years and you’re going to flip and do somersaults at how easy this recipe is to prepare. Definitely an easy meal to prepare anytime and maybe most of you may not have thought about.
Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken
In addition to chicken for this recipe, all you need is a salt, pepper, and a bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce. Seriously that’s all you need. Two of my favorite sauces, Montgomery Inn and Pepper Palace Mountain Q Chipotle is what I use when it comes to store-bought. Of course, you need a baking dish to bake beautiful mouth-watering Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken. Nothing like the taste of barbecue anytime of the year so why deprive yourself when it’s cold and rainy during the fall and winter months.
Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken
To prepare, leave skin on or remove if you prefer. Sprinkle chicken pieces with salt and paper and place in baking dish. Bake chicken about 30 minutes or almost done. Remove any excess fat rendered from baking. Pour barbecue sauce in a bowl and using a pastry brush coat each piece of chicken, skin-side down with barbecue sauce. Continue baking for another 5 – 7 minutes and flip, brushing with additional sauce on skin-side up. Return to oven for another 5 – 7 minutes. Brush with more sauce until coated as you like. I prefer to coat with sauce a couple of times until thick and caramelized. Remove from oven and serve with your favorite sides.

This recipe is impossible to resist and nothing to could any easier. Who knew? Consequently, Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken makes great leftovers as a topper for a BBQ Chicken Salad. Hey, two meals in one. Yahoo! So go ahead and prepare a summertime treat during the not so pleasant weather that’s upon us. Remember any barbecue sauce can be used whether made from scratch or store-bought. The results will be the same, Absolutely delicious…! Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken
Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken
6 bone-in chicken thighs, skin left on
1 bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Trim excess fat from chicken pieces. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper on both sides. Place in a 13×9-inch baking dish and bake skin-side up for 30 minutes.
Remove chicken from oven, pour sauce in a bowl. Using a basting brush, coat both sides with sauce. Turn chicken skin-side down and return to oven, baking 5 – 7 minutes. Turn chicken skin-side up, coating with more barbecue sauce and continue to bake another 5 – 7 minutes or until caramelized and sticky with sauce.
Serve the chicken with your favorite sides of choice.
