Peachy, Spicy, Sweet

Start this delicious sauce using fresh peaches that have been peeled and chopped. Place peaches in a saucepan with all ingredients except salt and pepper. Bring to boil over medium-high heat then reduce to simmer and stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook until thickened and remove from heat. Adjust salt and pepper to taste and you’re all ready to slather some ribs, pork chops, salmon or shrimp.

Perfect on St.Louis Ribs

I love this barbecue sauce because it’s so fresh and darn good, smokey sweet with that touch of bourbon. Bourbon adds the smokey essence and a touch of sweetness. Most of the alcohol cooks out so no need to worry. Canned chipotles also provide a smokey nuance and a bit of heat as well as adding in a bit of the adobo sauce from the can.

Fresh peaches are the base of this unbelievable sauce. Ripe and sweet this time of year, you can’t prepare a better barbecue sauce as Summer comes to an end. Plus, it’s something different as we tend to buy super sweet store-bought brands which do not have a great depth of flavor. The peach flavor definitely shines through once the sauce cooks down. If you prefer more heat, add in an additional pepper and more sauce.

This sauce is finger-licking, sticky good and a recipe you will want to keep handy. I know I do because my husband loves it. Barbecue sauce can be frozen or home-preserved for later use. Use barbecue sauce on grilled pork or seafood including a dipping sauce. Makes a great sauce for cocktail meatballs for when entertaining.
