“Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour”

So you probably know by now I’m on a whiskey kick. Rightfully so as whiskeys are all the rage in popularity. One of the worlds most versatile liquors, you will sure to find a way to enjoy this smokey, sweet liquor yourself. Whether straight, on the rocks or as a mixer, your favorite bar and bartender will serve up right. But why not make your own cocktails at home like my Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour.

First of all, pomegranate juice is a favorite as well as being good for you. Just purchase those without added sugar like POM. Considered a superfood antioxidant at least your cocktails with start off with a healthy ingredient. But we know cocktails are fun to drink also keeping in mind moderation is the key.

Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour

I have several whiskey sours posted on my website and I seem to be drawn to them as it’s one of my favorite cocktails no matter where I go. Rye whiskey is back in the forefront after many years of being ignored. I have been to several restaurants lately whose bartenders know how to mix up a good cocktail. Hence, my Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour was born.

Filled with rye whiskey, pomegranate juice, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, sweet and sour and Angostura bitters for flavor enhancement. It’s a match made in heaven. drinks real easy and tastes great. It’s a winner in my book and I’m sure you’ll agree. Experiment and be adventurous in finding a favorite whiskey if you haven’t already. Need to relax and or create some cocktails for outdoor barbecue fun, mix up a Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour. Always a winner in my book of libations. Enjoy!!!

Cocktails for Two –
Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour – Thirst Quenchers

 

Pomegranate Rye Whiskey Sour

1/3 cup rye whiskey

1/2 cup POM brand pomegranate juice

2 T. fresh lemon juice

1 T. simple syrup

2 T. sweet and sour mix

3 dashes of Angostura bitters

Lemon slices, for garnish

Maraschino cherries, for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Pour in all ingredients except garnishes. Place on lid and shake until frosty, about 30 seconds. Pour cocktail in an old-fashioned glass, adding more ice if necessary. Garnish as desired and enjoy.

Note: This cocktail can easily be made in large batches if entertaining.
