So, I headed to the kitchen to create something warm and fuzzy for your tummy to take that evening chill away? Stir up a warm cup of Spiced Pomegranate Infused Apple Cider.
My Spiced Pomegranate Infused Apple Cider gets heated up with a bit of Jameson’s Whiskey. It does the body good on a chilly fall night and as a result, you can see I was sitting on my patio enjoying my mug of cider. Apple Cider and pomegranate juice are tart and sweet which makes it the perfect addition to warm spices like cinnamon, cloves and apple cider. Try and find the freshest apple cider you can find like from your local orchard or fall outdoor market. Check your local listings for locations in your area. Consequently, pomegranates are available in abundance everywhere.
Spiced Pomegranate Infused Apple Cider
While pomegranates are loaded with antioxidants, Vitamin K and Vitamin C, this drink is a good way to have fun, yet getting some health benefits from the juice and using pomegranate arils in your spiced cider. The seeds look pretty and taste great. Therefore, this sounds like a plan for either you and/or your friends. Most of all, Thanksgiving is coming up. So, have plenty of mugs available for your guests. I guarantee your friends and family will be filling their cups often. Grab your big stock pot and stir up a huge batch of Spiced Pomegranate Infused Apple Cider. You can leave the cider simmering on low heat to keep warm and let your guests add the whiskey on their own. You should probably make sure you have enough Jameson’s Whiskey on hand. Spiced Pomegranate Infused Apple Cider
2 cups apple cider
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
1 t. whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
50 ml. Jameson’s Whiskey or more to taste
Extra cinnamon sticks, garnish
Pomegranate arils, garnish
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, add apple cider, pomegranate syrup, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Bring to boil then reduce heat and let simmer for 20 minutes to infuse with spices. Remove from heat and add whiskey. Pour cider into mug of choice. Garnish with cinnamon stick and pomegranate arils. Enjoy!
Note: Recipe can be adjusted depending on how many servings needed. The cider can be made ahead and refrigerated. Omit whiskey and add when reheated. Refrigeration just intensifies the spice flavor.
