“Strawberry Banana Protein Breakfast Smoothie”

Need a quick morning pick me up? Get out your blender and try my Strawberry Banana Protein Breakfast Smoothie. Made with fresh strawberries, banana, protein powder of organic plant formula, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free with 20 grams of protein in each package. Garden of Life protein powder is not grainy or gritty as some can be and is flavored with chocolate cacao. The fresh sweetness of the berries shine through in this smoothie. When it comes to a healthy start to your day, this is what the doctor ordered.

I watch my carbs daily but still want good tasting eats. This smoothie can be made for kids. Just leave out the protein powder and add agave or honey for sweetness. Consider adding less milk to change smoothie to a thicker consistency. My recipe makes 2 servings so refrigerate half for the next morning if need be. Checkout my Breakfast Blueberry Banana Milkshake for kids for ideas in using different fruits. So simple, delicious and refreshing first thing in the morning, Strawberry Banana Protein Breakfast Smoothie.

Strawberry Banana Protein Breakfast Smoothie

1 cup strawberries, slightly frozen

1 medium banana, slightly frozen

1 – 5.3 oz. container non-fat plain Greek yogurt

3/4 cup low-fat milk

1 – 1.1 oz. package Garden of Life Raw Protein and Greens Powder with Chocolate Cacao

1 1/2 t. Agave syrup, optional

4 ice cubes

Strawberry, for garnish

Place all ingredients in a blender except garnish. Whiz several minutes until smooth and no ice remains. Pour into a tall glass or smoothie shaker. Garnish if you like. Enjoy!

Makes 2 servings. Carbs, 29.8 g.

Note:  If using Agave, taste for sweetness before adding to smoothie. Remember adding Agave will increase the carb count by 4 g. per serving. When making 2 servings I drink half one day and save the other half for the next day. However, this protein powder used in this smoothie leaves the smoothie tasting bitter the next day.  I suggest using Tera’s Whey if saving for the next day as it has no bitter taste.
