“Strawberry Gooey Bars”

A few months back I posted an old recipe Mom used to make for my sister and I. The original recipe is for Dollie’s Gooey Bars and I recently came up with another flavor, Strawberry Gooey Bars. Made in the same fashion as my Chocolate Gooey Bars and the original recipe as the base. These bars are just as deliciously, sweet and gooey with an awesome strawberry flavor. It’s a fun recipe that takes n time to bake. You can make these bars after work in about an hour per pan. What’s any easier than combining 6 ingredients that tastes like you spent all day baking.

I brought my Strawberry Gooey Bars along with the other flavors and they were gone in no time. Mind you, I made 5 pans. I have to bake a lot of what I bring to work. I do the same for my husband’s coworkers, too. I love baking for coworkers and I enjoy they love what I bake. If you need a sugar fix and love ooey, gooey here is your recipe. These bars will knock your socks off and get the kids involved in helping to make these dessert treats. Let me know if you make this recipe or if you have a similar one. Like them on my Recipes page on Facebook.

Strawberry Gooey Bars

1 box strawberry cake mix

1 stick butter, melted

1 egg

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened

1 – 1 lb. box confectioners’ sugar, plus more for sprinkling

2 eggs

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a medium bowl, mix together strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg; press into a 13×9 pan. Set aside.

In same bowl used to mix first three ingredients, mix together cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, and 2 eggs until well combined. Pour over cake mixture.

Bake for 40 minutes until edges are browned and pull away from the sides of pan.

Remove from oven; sprinkle bars with confectioners’ sugar while hot. Cool completely; cut into squares and serve. Store in airtight container at room temperature.
