“Strawberry Kiwi Banana Protein Smoothie”

Here is another awesome smoothie, Strawberry Kiwi Banana Protein Smoothie. Full of sweet, juicy strawberries, kiwi, and banana with a kick of protein from Tera’s Whey. I’m in a smoothie kinda mood at the moment. When you’re diabetic we’re always looking for recipes low in sugar even when cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables. Several fruits like bananas and vegetables like corn must be eaten in moderation because of natural sugar and starch content. But that doesn’t mean not finding amounts which work in your recipes without raising your blood sugar levels. That’s what I do with my smoothies, find other ingredients that add flavor but not too much sugar.

I try to keep all my smoothies under 40 carb grams when possible. My Strawberry Kiwi Banana Protein Smoothie has only 33 grams of carbs per 10 oz. serving. This means not using all fruit and adding low-fat milk and non-fat plain greek yogurt without eliminating flavor. When making smoothies in seasons when some fruits are not as sweet I use honey or agave for sweetness. These are both carb friendly sweeteners. Remember I use nothing artificial, only the real things. This smoothie tastes great on a warm summer morning and a fresh start to your day. Try one…Have a healthy, great day!
