Set It and Forget It! Welcome to the World of Slow Cookers. My Equipment Corner for July will help familiarize you with slow cookers. For those who remember back to when were teenagers and Mom running out the door for work, the slow cooker was probably a staple on the kitchen counter. But boy oh boy, have these essential kitchen appliances come a long way baby. Crock Pot was the original manufacturer of the slow cooker and have more models than anyone else. The World of Slow Cookers have changed so much enabling us to not only prepare meats and vegetables but soups, sauces, casseroles, steel-cut oats, dips, and delicious desserts. Slow Cookers allow you to set timers digitally up to 24 hours ahead and brown your meat right in the insert. The slow cookers of new switch to warm after initial cooking time is finished. Multi-function cookers work as high heat roasters and steamers.
Slow Cooker styles vary including smart, lift and serve, portable, and digital. These are features to be aware of when purchasing a slow cooker. Size varies as well from 1.5 quart to 7 quart capacity. Crock Pot makes a model (Hook Ups) which can be hooked together depending on your entertaining needs. For fun, checkout their line of NFL and Collegiate models, too. Crock Pot brand also has replacement parts for many models. I have four different slow cookers; for making dips, desserts to large batches of pulled pork. There are many cookbooks available as well as online to find recipes for slow cookers. Since I’m featuring slow cookers, I need to share some of my slow cooker recipes with you. Okay, coming soon. Anyway, visit your local stores or online who carry a variety of slow cookers for you to choose from. Don’t be surprised if you end up with more than one.
