Enjoy fudgy brownies with swirled peanut butter mixed caramel, shaved chocolate and crushed pretzels. You just can’t go wrong with this salty, crunchy sweet combination.

Cooled and ready to eat!

I have a question for you. How many times have you gone to get ingredients for a recipe and you find something is no longer on store shelves or no longer produced? Too many times, right? That’s exactly what happened with this recipe. It’s a total pain in the $#&%!

Luckily for you, I figured out how to incorporate something similar into the recipe. With the thought of not having more of this spread on hand I had to get the creative juices flowing.

Guess what? I actually have two options for you to use in this recipe which you’ll find below.

The first option is to make your own homemade peanut butter spread. Combine 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter with shaved chocolate, caramel, and crushed pretzels. The emphasis is on the crushed pretzels and your mixture should be rather thick yet spreadable. This is a totally customizable mixture which can used in other ways like on breakfast toast and stuffed French toast.

Now the second option involves using Reese’s Take 5 candy bars. Chop about 1/2 cup chopped candy bar pieces, sprinkle on top of brownie batter, press in candy and bake.

Neither you nor I have the need to wait for my original peanut butter spread to come back around. That means you can bake another scrumptious brownie recipe from my kitchen to yours.

Making a pan of these brownies is easy no matter which baking option you use.

To start, grab a 9-inch square pan (preferred), large mixing bowl, spatula, and recipe ingredients. Line baking pan with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside for later.

Heat oven according to package. In the mixing bowl, combine brownie mix according to package directions. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Either dollop brownie batter with peanut butter mixture or sprinkle with candy pieces.

Bake your brownies per package directions and do not over bake. Allow to cool, cut and enjoy.

How about serving me with some ice cream?

Caramel PB Pretzel Swirl Brownies

1 box 13X9 pan-size fudge brownie mix (Ghirardelli or Betty Crocker)

1/3 to 1/2 cup Private Selection peanut butter with caramel-pretzel-chocolate spread or homemade spread

Option 1 – Homemade spread:

Start with 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter. Add in shaved semisweet chocolate, finely crushed pretzels and Nestle La Lechera caramel. The spread should be on the thick side and made to your taste.

Option 2 – Reese’s Take 5 candy bar:

Chop 1/2 cup candy and sprinkle on top of brownie batter. Press candy into batter and bake per recipe instructions.

Heat oven according to package directions. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment or coat with non-stick cooking spray. A 13×9-inch baking pan can be used but brownies will be thinner.

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions and pour batter into prepared pan.

Dollop peanut butter mixture on top of brownie batter. Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl PB mixture through batter.

Bake according to package directions. Mine were baked at 350 for 33 minutes. Toothpick inserted should come out clean.

Makes 9–12 brownies.
