I watched my Mom make all kinds of breads and each one had her stamp on it. She made yeast breads to quick breads like this recipe and they never disappointed. I found this cheesy bread several years ago and I remember writing it down on a piece of paper. Nothing like making an old recipe and remembering why you love it so much. So if you’re a bread lover, give this one a try.

Use one bowl to combine dry ingredients and another bowl for wet ingredients. Mix all together until just combined and spoon batter into a greased loaf pan. Bake about 45 minutes until top is golden brown. Cool bread in pan then slice and serve. You will be amazed how moist the inside of the loaf is and the crunchy top is irresistible. Reminds me of a homemade biscuit. No matter how you slice it, this cheesy bread is fabulous for something so quick and easy.

Cheesy Garlic Quick Bread

2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

4 t. baking powder

1 T. granulated sugar

1 1/2 t. garlic powder

1/2 t. kosher salt

1 1/2 cups shredded Cabot Vermont Sharp Cheddar Cheese

1 cup whole milk

1 large egg, beaten

3 T. melted unsalted butter

 

Heat oven to 350 degrees and coat a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt and cheese.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine milk, egg, and melted butter. Mixture will become chunky.

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Do not over mix.

Spoon bread mixture into prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 45 minutes and until top is golden brown.

Cool bread completely in pan on wire rack. Remove bread from pan, slice, and serve as desired.
